Ex-MEGADETH Guitarist CHRIS POLAND Hard At Work On New OHM: Album
May 14, 2007OHM:, the project of former MEGADETH guitarist Chris Poland, is hard at work on its third studio effort, due later in the year. According to a press release, the new material is being described as "slightly heavier, but still very much still uniquely OHM:" Songtitles set to appear on the as-yet-untitled CD include "Circus of Sound", "DD214", "Leap of Faith", "The Black Hand", "YDK", "Steps from Home", "Pan" and "Mr. Brown".
Poland had the following to say to say about the upcoming OHM: recording: "We are getting Kofi's [Baker; drums] tracks down for the new record. With all this new gear the sounds out of the box are killing. We are having a lot of fun and we are getting a lot of that live energy to tape this time. Petar [Sardelich; producer] is at the board again (with no A/C) and is making us look good. I'll let you know how things are going when we start getting more involved. This is day three with Kofi and already it is better than 'Amino Acid Flashback'. Played a little for John Gaudesi at Yamaha Guitars …his response was 'Sounds juicy.' Fuck ya!"
In other news, Lion Music will on May 25 release Chris Poland's "Return to Metalopolis – Live", a live recording from the 1991 tour to support Poland's legendary instrumental heavy metal recording "Return to Metalopolis" (1990, Enigma Records). Mark Poland (Chris Poland's brother) plays drums and David Randi (who later joined Poland's 1993 project DAMN THE MACHINE) are featured on the live recording. The live release is a chance for the fans of the metal side of Chris Poland's playing to hear him on his first solo tour after leaving MEGADETH. This release will also contain unreleased live and studio material from Poland's archives, not to mention a live enhanced video of his band OHM: performing a reworked version of the classic "Return to Metalopolis" track "Alexandria".
